In the aftermath of the Persian Gulf War, four soldiers set out to steal gold that was stolen from Kuwait, but they discover people who desperately need their help.
A small group of adventurous American soldiers in Iraq at the end of the Gulf War are determined to steal a huge cache of gold reputed to be hidden somewhere near their desert base. Finding a map they believe will take them to the gold, they embark on a journey that leads to unexpected discoveries, enabling them to rise to a heroic challenge that drastically changes their lives.
I didn&#39;t expect this movie to be as good as it was. Then again, I wasn&#39;t sure what it was going to be about as all I remember from the reviews of it were that it was good, that many critics thought it should have been an Oscar contender, and to expect to hear about the Bullet Wound Scene. Well I didn&#39;t hear any other word of mouth besides that so I rented the movie and watched it not knowing what to expect, which I&#39;ve found tends to be the best way to enjoy a movie anyway.<br/><br/>If I may endulge in slang from around the period of the movie, I have to heartily exclaim that this movie was radical! There is a great deal of dark comedy in it that I hope I&#39;m not the only person to appreciate. And it all builds to an exciting finale (I won&#39;t say how, because this was the part of the movie I had no idea about). Please don&#39;t overlook this one! Just one last thing, in case &quot;Boogie Nights&quot; didn&#39;t convince you: as a rapper, Mark Walburg is a great actor.
Three Kings is one of the most political movies I have seen in years. Even though it is an entertaining action picture, it manages to examine US policy, Western attitudes toward Middle Easterners, the consumer society, how we kill and die, what it means to be shot up close or bombed anonymously from the air, and how good people are all striving for much the same goals everywhere. Clooney, Wahlberg, Ice Cube and Spike Jones all give terrific performances full of depth, humour and passion. Stealing the gold is only the pretext for this film; it steals our hearts and consciences as well.
It's full of energy and drops an emotional bomb with its unexpected tale of reluctant heroes.
Yes. The incident was the result of the ongoing animosity between Clooney and Russell coming to a head. George Clooney claims a fight started between Russell and himself after he had witnessed the director shove an extra to the ground. Clooney had previously confronted Russell over his alleged harsh behavior towards extras on set, including ignoring a woman who suffered a seizure while he set up a shot. However, some witnesses claim that Russell was actually demonstrating how he wanted someone to be thrown to the ground in rehearsal, and that Clooney had blown the incident out of proportion.<br/><br/>These incidents are further chronicled in the book &quot;Rebels on the Backlot&quot; by Sharon Waxman.
